Special orders
|
Special orders have included rugs of a
particular size, and breakfast nook stool covers. Rugs can
also be made as wall hangings.
Since most of Rose's Rugs use all recycled fabric, the materials cost of
any particular rug is small compared to her investment in time. The real
benefit of a special order rug, is your ability to provide exactly the colors
you want.
Special order rugs that fall within Rose's normal size ranges are about $5
to $10 less than her usual price.
The more colors of fabric you provide, the more interesting the rug.
Sheet-weight fabrics are best. You need a lot.
Keep in mind, as rugs grown, they require exponentially more fabric and
time (each row is SO much longer). For special orders of large rugs, made
with Rose's fabrics, costs can only be estimated in advance.

Choosing the right size

Sketch the dimensions of the rug you like on a piece of newspaper, then
cut that out and try it in the place where you want to use the rug. If you
want to place a special order, try the same technique in reverse. Create a
newspaper surrogate and measure that. Most of Rose's rugs are more round
than oval.

|
Wash in a gentle cycle -- when rugs are strongly agitated
in a washer, some knots may come untied. Because all the fabrics
have been pre-washed, and are often recycled sheets, you can wash
in cold, warm, or hot water.
Sometimes a rug's center puffs up after washing. To flatten, iron your rug,
gently pull its edges out from the center, or walk on it. Be
careful to put
your rug in a low traffic area where you won't trip on it until
it does flatten. Dry cleaners can block the rug as well. Here in Bozeman,
that costs $3.
If any of the knots on the back of the rug come undone in the wash,
simply poke them through to the back of the rug and re-tie. Like we said, rustic. And durable.
If your rug slips and slides on a smooth, bare wood floor, find a
shop
with a non-slip mat to hold it in place. Carpet stores, and even
some
hardware stores, stock these.
